The Otto F. Ege Project explores the bookbreaking of Otto Ege and the ramifications (both positive and negative) of the dispersal of so many leaves of medieval manuscripts into (primarily) American collections. While Otto Ege is the most well-known book breaker, he was hardly alone in his practices and books are currently being broken and sold by dealers as individual leaves, both to the general public, but also to medievalists at annual meetings such as the Medieval Academy of America and the International Congress of Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo.
